What is Agapolis?

Agape is unconditional love at the divine level, and polis is an ancient Greek word for society or government.  Perhaps a cosmic kingdom on earth could be named "Agapolis."  The vision for this world would be centered on establishment a cosmic world order, defined by peace, reconciliation, justice, and the restoration of creation to a state of harmony. Unite to overcome violence and division, and create a new humanity characterized by love, righteousness, and wisdom.

Key Aspects of Agapolis:

  • Reconciliation and Peace: A central focus is transforming broken relationships between humanity and cosmic authority, and among people, fostering a world where enmity ceases.
  • The world would be ruled by cosmic or divine righteousness, marked by love, compassion, and justice
  • Environmental Stewardship: The vision includes the responsible care (shamar) of the natural world, protecting it as part of divine creation.
  • Restoration and Healing: The vision aims to eliminate pain, sorrow, and death, leading to a "new heaven and a new earth".
  • Justice for the Oppressed: A world where justice is upheld, protecting the vulnerable rather than allowing the exploitation of the poor. 

How the Vision is Realized:

  • The Populace: Practice love, humility, and patience.
  • Active Stewardship: Working to honor the cosmos through service, caring for others, and responsible stewardship of resources.
  • Personal Transformation: Individuals are invited to align their lives with this vision through faith, obedience, and allowing themselves to be transformed, rather than conforming to the world's ways.
